No one had come for hours after we woke up, and I gave in to the urge to yell. The oncoming heat made me more irritable than normal, if that was even possible. Nolan needed to pay fucking attention to his prisoners. Ozzy watched me in amusement while Caspian grew increasingly nervous as my expletives grew more creative.

After a particularly creative one, the incubus reached out a hand to pull me back onto the bed, cutting off my shouts. “Isn’t he technically our captor? You shouldn’t be so mean to him.”

“He is our captor, which is why he shouldn’t be ignoring us. I need to talk to him.”

My skin was warmer than usual and had been increasing in temperature all day. Caspian noticed. I shouldn’t be so hot since I’d been standing in the crisply air conditioned room and hadn’t been tucked against him for a while. His knuckles grazed my upper arm and then my neck before his eyes widened. “Are you going into heat?” he asked.

“Regrettably, yes.”

“Oh my gods, I’m so sorry. This is my fault, isn’t it? Is it because of how I fucked you yesterday?”

I could lie and say no. I was kind of done lying though, even little white ones. “Yeah. Taking a knot for the first time was enough to push me into a heat. It’s fine. This would have been a problem within a week. I was due.”

Biting his lip, he pulled back his touch as if it was going to thrust me over the edge faster. “Are you going to… um…”

My eyebrows drew together as I watched him stumble over his words, not sure what he was getting at. Oswald snorted, knowing more than I did. Cas glanced at the cat, but was growing more comfortable around him with every minute spent. It helped that Ozzy was on his best behaviour, choosing to pout silently instead of antagonizing him.

“What is it, lover boy?”

“Am I allowed to help you through your heat?”

It took a second for his words to sink in, and then I laughed. Only one abrupt bark of a laugh that I tried to stifle but couldn’t. Caspian looked dejected for a second before I grabbed both of his shoulders and settled onto his lap. “I can’t believe I’m still forgetting how clear I need to be with you. Of course you can. You’re the only one I want to knot me, and it would be wonderful to go through a heat without being in intense pain.”

He blushed, his hands on my hips still holding me like I was about to break. I’d never been treated so gently before. There was something about it I enjoyed a lot. “Oh. Well, I’m happy to help.”

“I want you to help. I’ll be too much for you alone, so depending on how much Shan grovels, he might secure himself an invite. He’s not allowed to knot me, though, and there will be absolutely no marking.”

“No marking. Got it. I would never unless you asked me to.
